Five Nights at Freddy's

First Impression of the game

The kids teddybears will freak me the fuck out from now on...

This huge monster sitting at random places in my house, staring at me..

So the game scared me?
Yes.

Does it mean it is a good game?
It succeeded in what it tried to do I suppose. I think it is a brilliant game!

At first though. I was wondering what the hell I had bought. I started the game and was expecting a menu for a lot of different settings. Not much of that.
So I started the game, expecting to enter the options menu by pressing "escape".

The game shut down! Now I really wondered what the hell this was.. But like I said above. I think it is a brilliant game and I can see why there are no pause button needed. Every session is at maximum 15 minutes long which means you will never have to replay more than 15 minutes in case you have to shut down in the middle of the game.

So the game is basically about surviving the nights as the security guard at a place called "Freddy's". At night these cute maskots becomes living creatures and in their mind, I am breaking the rules. So you basically has to stay away from them, not to get stuffed into one of those costumes. Or if they mistake me for a costume and tries to shove a metal skeleton up my ass.

This game is brilliant. You are based in one room and one room only. You can look through 10 (or something like that) security cameras to check where they are. You only use the mouse and use it for a few things, check cameras, close/open doors and the light switch.

So in means of creating the game, it can be done without having to create these massive worlds of graphical content. So that makes it easier.

However..

By limit yourself to this small enviroment, you will have to do a brilliant work with the atmosphere. Since the player won't wander through the enviroment thinking that the next country will be better made.
This tiny enviroment is it, you won't get to see anything else. And in Five nights at Freddy's, the atmosphere is f-ing brilliant.

The shitty security cameras makes you focus on the screen in order to see anything. So when the jumpscare comes, you are so into the f-ing game that... Well. I did some shouthing and waving with my arms and stuff. There is a super short video on my first real scare but I am working on creating some more content in this post.

Watch some videos on the game if you feel like it is something that might intrest you. If you own a cat, make sure that little furry thing stays away from you while you play. All of a sudden my cat tried to re-decorate my home, wrecked a pile of wooden boxes etc right behind me.
At first I thought it was Freddy that had come for me IRL.

I am recommending it for sure. Bloody brilliant I'd say.

New Gameplay from The Forest

Gameplay from The Forest

I found the Katana for the first time! Yippie ka yay! Some deaths during the video as well. Before finding the ninja weapon there were hard times.

Some sick shit found in the caves as well during this video. And as usual, some trashtalking between Sweden and Norway.

Enjoy!

Streaming is huuge!

Streaming is the future way of entertainment

I suppose you have not missed the trend of streaming. The kind I am referring to is Twitch.tv for example. The amount of total views each days on that site is astronomical! Jesus!
Who has lost all these viewers? Since everyone is hanging out at Twitch.

Television! Back in the days people used to watch a lot of TV. We were creating a schedule to fit in the specific times our favorite shows were on.

Now we can interract with the persons we are looking at. The chats are spammed on the popular streams. TV-shows got really bad statistics compared to just a few years back. Will TV as we know it even exist if this continues?
Or will they just disappear into these streaming services like Netflix?

As an example, one guy is called Lirik. I apologize if I am not remembering correctly but I think that he started out playing games on stream. Then DayZ came along. The mod for Arma2.
He got rather good at that game and finished high in tournaments and stuff. Now though, it does not matter what he plays.
He can pick up an Indie game and stream it and the Twitch community follows. When you check what games are currently popular you can see some shitty game that you never heard about BEING THE MOST WATCHED GAME! And then you can be sure that Lirik is currently online streaming that game.
Last night he had 58k viewers when I logged onto Twitch. That is a city full of people and it is not something competitive they are watching either.

Games like Counter Strike and Dota2 are getting challenged by these characters like Lirik. The total views of big titles is about the same numbers as the people currently watching him.

These streamers are getting money from people that subscribes to their channel, people donating money to support them and commercial breaks they have while streaming. So the trend will not stop because these guys are likely to stop doing what they do.

We are probably witnessing the beginning of what will be the future of television. To be able to interract with the shows.

There are not just gaming shows on Twitch. People have talk shows (podcasts live) and create music or drawings - and you can watch it LIVE!

Cooking shows will come soon too if you ask me. Haven't we all wanted to tell the TV chef "This bullshit is not working! What am I doing wrong?!".
Using streaming I would be able to reach the chef in real time and get an explanation. Enough said!

The Walking Dead - The Game

New game for Roman! The Walking Dead!

So there is a sale on Steam on some of the Telltale games.

I felt that I enjoyed the "point and click" game called Frankenstein: Master of Death a lot which made me buy another one like it.

I have seen a few seasons of the TV series Walking Dead and I liked it. Games that are directly made after a movie or a TV series are generally bad I'd say. Since you already know exactly what will happen.
This game however is just taking place in the same universe that the TV series. That was appealing to me! The games I have been playing recently are also zombie games.

I don't want to spoil too much of the game. That is why I just put up this video from the beginning of the game. It is not the first minutes of it but there has not been a lot of playtime before this video was made.

It is from my Twitch stream.

It is a lot of video material in the game. Which means that you can sit back, relax and just enjoy the video. It is a perfect game to play when you just want to play something but you don't want to focus on last hitting like in League of Legends or focus 100% on aiming like in Counter Strike.
Time flies when I play this game. And even though it is not difficult so far, I have had a few puzzles that I have enjoyed breaking. They were hard enough for me to feel that "Yes!" feeling when I got passed them.

You are creating a story, a movie. And your decisions will impact the rest of the game a lot. You will see a good example of that in the video above. And the choices are not easy to make. A lot of dialogs are tricky as well. Like, what do I answer to this question? And there is a timer on the time you have to choose your response.

The Forest - Big project after latest patch

Time to build big!

There is always going to be a "next patch coming soon" in this game I think. Since it is so early in the development process. That means that if I would start to create something, and they patch the game. It might be all for nothing.
But thinking it through. It is a game, it is always for nothing ^_-

So last night the project started. A big base, like a fort is beginning to take shape. I am doing the project with some help. The idea of having a stream is to interract with people. And in my case, when I started to play The Forest it was really helpful to have people watching and being able to help out using the chat.

The guy I am currently building this project with is one of those guys that came in and watched my stream, helping me understand the basics in the game when I was completely new.
It is great to meet new people! So now we are working together working on this big ass camp.

So if you feel like hanging out and chat you can check me out on http://www.twitch.tv/podcasterroman

I am always able to see the chat when I play so come by and chill. Like you see in the video below it will be a few sessions of "The Forest" in the days to come.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Part 6

Part 7

Part 8

Part 9

Part 10

Part 11

The clips are from the same project as you can understand. They are divided in 15 minutes segments and that is why the videos are so short and so many. Unfortunately that is the way it will be for now at least.

I hope that you will enjoy watching the video and watch the project grow.

TwitchCon H1Z1 Invitational

H1Z1 Invitational!

Looking forward to this one. The battle of the streamers! I have no clue about the way they intend to do this. Is it just one round?
Then it would be a lot of luck involved. Hopefully it is like 3 battles and they add the points given for placements.

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
According to their website which means I guess it is american time. It does not matter, I got work to take care of. Will have to watch the replays anyways.

Will summit1g win?

Don't really care at all who wins. I just hope for a lot of entertainment!

Impressions of H1Z1 after two days of Battle Royale.

So I figured I might as well make a short summary of my two days with the Battle Royale in H1Z1.

So any bugs?
Yeah, like getting stuck in the wall unable to get out. It did not happen to me but to Bas, which makes it OK though ;)

Any hackers?
Probably. Sat in a bathroom, there should have been no way that they could know where we were hiding. And all of a sudden the door opens. Then without us hearing anything, seeing anything we were dead one by one. And a few other questionable events occuring.

However, during the games a lot of people were banned for cheating. Which means they have some sort of control over it at least. Lets just hope that they add like some super system. Like Counter Strike has and DayZ had some software as well when I installed the game.
Because this Battle Royale system they have. That is really something they can build something huge around!

We want random maps for Battle Royale! Then it would be even better.

Any other things you would like to add? Any positives perhaps?
Yea sure thing! It is freaking awesome! Being able to just click to join a quene to find a game of Battle Royale!

I commented on it during a session earlier today actually. Like when I played Super Mario Bros 3 about 18 years ago I would have never imagined these games to exist in the future. It is freaking SCI FI but it is happening for real!
Freakishly huge open world games with insane graphics where some views could sometimes fool people into thinking they were watching a video or a photo from real life.

So basically, the potential for this game is ridiculous. It can really be something huge in the future. Maybe hard to be a competitive pro scene, but huge tournaments would definitely draw a hugh audience due to the excitement of the game.
Like the tournament Twitch will have for their streamers at the TwitchCon. It is only Early Access and there is still a huge tournament which I am sure will be watched by sooo many people.

Have I finished 1st in any of the battles yet? No, but there have been a few top 4 spots already after 2 days. And to go top 10 is not such a big problem. At the moment there are so many things about the inventory and how you can interract with the world that is the hardest part.
I love the fact that you can use so many different tactics. You can go to the centre of the map and start to shoot people instantly. You can go to the woods and chill out, waiting for people to kill each other or just hit the edges of the map for some privacy and houses to loot.

The fact that you can't see your teammates on any minimap allows you to get a few good laughs every now and then as well. Sometimes you will meet in a doorway, panic and kill each other. Perhaps it is just me, but that is entertainment!

Streaming like there is no tomorrow!

So this weekend will be a very special weekend. I will have the opportunity to stream a lot! That does not happen very often. Mostly I just try to get am hour or two done every night just to keep the streaming up.

http://www.twitch.tv/podcasterroman

Come check it out. Since I am not live several hours every day normally, you might want to follow it to be able to see when I go online. On Twitter I usually announce when it is time for a streaming session as well.

The game that I try to focus on at the moment is 'The Forest'. You can watch the streams via the history function on Twitch as well.

Come and hang out. If you write messages in the chat I can see them. And I could try to do stuff in the game that you want to see or we could just have a discussion about whatever random nonsense.

Getting used to streaming..

So... Streaming. A really fun way to interract with people. The chatsystem seems to be good even though there is a delay from what you are doing and what your stream is showing.
That delay makes it difficult to interract with your viewers typing in the chat. However I am already getting used to having that delay and the interracting is easier.

Some other things about streaming is not as easy though. Like to remember whether or not you have covered over the cam or not. Sometimes I spend an hour playing with the cam covered while I think that it is showing me in the stream. The audio is sometimes a factor as well, I have been talking to myself with the microphone muted for several occasions as well.

There is something really fun about being able to interract with the viewers though and I like it. Go see if I am online (PodcasterRoman on twitch.tv) and if I am not on, you can check out Bascast. My partner in crime when it comes to the podcast!

If you have any suggestions on games you want to see you could message me on Twitter @podcasterroman and if I have the game I might do a session and have it saved on twitch for you guys to see.
