Getting some Vitamins into my system

Vitamins is a good idea

It is something that can be considered quite obvious. But are most people taking supplements to make sure they get all the vitamins the body needs?

Like we spoke about on the latest episode of The Fit Gamer Podcast. During the winter when it is cold and dark we don't get the same amount of vitamin D. And there is something referred to as "winter depression" or something. It is about as scientific as the happy feelings people have when the spring is coming.

I am expecting a delivery of some nice vitamins any day now. And especially since I have been starting to get bad colds every now and then when the weather turns cold it is a must-have for me.

In Sweden at least, almost any grocery store is selling some kind of vitamin labeled to suit different persons. Some boxes says women 50+ and such. That is actually great because it helps the general public to purchase vitamins. They don't feel that they have to read and see if it is the vitamins they want. Many people would just have said, "Naaah too much work" and just skipped the vitamins.

In times where the amount of calories we need is easily covered due to all the fat and glucos in our foods, it is not certain that we get enough of the vitamins and minerals in our regular diet.

When we for example filter away bad shit in our drinking water like medicines and detergents, certain minerals disappear as well.

Don't be one of them saying vitamins is for weak people. It might help you stay healthy, get better workout results and avoid the feelings of depression during the darker season.

DreamHack Winter 2015

DreamHack Winter 2015 (No Spoilers)

I guess that it is all over this time. The DreamHack Winter 2015 in its original location. Nowadays they are showing up all over Europe. But it is really an old tradition when it comes to the summer and winter DreamHacks here in Sweden.

I am one of all the fans that will watch replays of the games for the weeks to come. I have not been able to watch a lot of the games live. Mainly due to the fact that I did not have any Internet at all during the weekend.

The Counter Strike tournament seemed to have a looot of exciting games. I will not spoil anything at all. But I bet that there will be a  lot of exciting games from the group stage all the way to the final. There were some big stomps as well as really tight matches that you can watch in the replays. I sure will!

As a swede, there will be a lot of games to watch simply because NiP and Fnatic were in the tournament. And they played each other! El Clasico of swedish Counter Strike!

I am really disappointed that there are no League of Legends to speak of. Riot and the LCS is so big that there is really no intrest or possibility for the best teams to enter other tournaments.

There should be playlists on Youtube to allow you to watch all games in the correct order. Because by just searching for games randomly, you will often get the results spoiled by seeing what teams are in the final.

Pro Evolution Soccer Free to Play

Free to Play Pro Evolution Soccer

Is this for real? They are releasing the game for free?
Not quite. I haven't read a lot about it. But it seems that this version will only contain 7 teams and access to something called "my club".
Some of the clubs that it is supposed to contain are Juventus, Roma, Bayern Munich, Brazil and France. The mode called Training mode will be available as well.

In order to earn money on this release it seems that they can make some money by people purchasing content using micro-transactions in the "my club" section.

This will probably be released December 8th.

Zlatan returned

Zlatan returned with style

Zlatan returned to Malmö tonight. The club where it all started. Back then the club was not even playing in the first division in Sweden. And now, he gets to come back to face Malmö in Champions League.

That is quite the story!

He has been and still is the source of inspiration and hope to a lot of young players in not only Malmö, but in Sweden

To make sure that people got to enjoy the game he helped with the finances for a big show with big screens on the town square in Malmö.
Thousands of fans gathered there, despite the cold weather here in Sweden. It was not many days ago there was a snow chaos I believe in those parts of Sweden. But people wanted to join up and watch the game.

What about the game itself? Malmö started out with a really young centre back who deserved a chance to play against players like Di Maria, Ibrahimovic and Cavani according to the manager. I am not arguing with that.
It is not certain that the result would have been any different with an older and more experienced centre back. The left back in Malmö were also a young player who even played in Champions League in the previous season and made quite the impression. A bright future? Only time will tell.

Keep an eye on Pa Konate!

Paris is certainly on another level than Malmö. The amount of money the squads are worth are not even in the same universe. That showed. Paris got ahead early. 1-0 in three minutes and after that it continued in a similar fashion.

Zlatan himself put the ball in the net in the second half, making the score 3-0.

The game ended 5-0 and Zlatan got substituted in the 85th minute to recieve the cheers from the crowd. The king had returned!

He did not take every opportunity to shoot. He was passing the ball a lot giving his teammates opportunities to score.
Unwilling to score too many goals against Malmö or wanting to show his growth as a player? Maybe that was just the way he would have played any other game. No matter the reasons, he had a good game.

New DLCs for Batman Arkham Knight

DLCs for Batman Arkham Knight

They will be available for owners of the Batman: Arkham Knight Season Pass. Apparently it includes two new Arkham episodes and something called "2016 Batman v Superman Batmobile Pack.

If you don't own a season pass, don't worry. You can pick them up seperately at December 1st.

Catwoman and Robin will get some time in the spotlight as well. In different Arkham episodes they will have a story that we can play. Catwoman wants revenge on "The Riddler" and Robin goes after a money laundry operation.

HERE is a link to gamereactor where they have a trailer for it.

Hopefully this is targeting the console versions since, as far as I understand it, they still haven't gotten it to run smoothly on PC? Spend some time to perfect the content that you already sold?

Or better yet, hurry up and finish a brand new game!

But to think positive, releasing a lot of DLCs might make them lower the price on the original game thinking that they can earn money on people buying the new DLCs as well. And I am currently playing through the first games to get to know the story. And waiting for the issues to be resolved and the price to drop for Arkham Knight.

So this might turn out to be a good thing for me in the end.

Payday 2 devs tries to win back community

Payday 2 devs apologizes

This has been a huge thing lately. When Payday 2 released micro-transactions that could be called "Pay-to-Win". The system is not something sensational. A lot of games are using that.

However...

These particular developers had previously promised the community surrounding Payday that this would never happen. And yet... it did.

So now they have released a blog post saying that they screwed up and that they are sorry. But will they remove the feature?

I did not get that impression after reading fragments about it. They say stuff like "I must stress however that we cannot currently make any promises but these are the things we will be discussing as we move forward."
But like I said, I did not read the entire blog post. I just read an article on it and felt I had to update the blog some. Since I already mentioned this mess several times on the blog and on the podcast.

Will saying sorry repair the damage done if they don't back on the whole "pay-to-win" thing?

If I understood it correctly there will be a small chance to get the loot in the game without paying for it. But I am guessing it will be quite rare.

I own a copy of the game. But I will never play that shit online for rewards. I will just play the story mode co-op. That is it. Which means that I am not really affected by this shit. But all together, I feel that they are risking the future of this series based upon this.

Will the fans buy the next game?

Will some other developer release a similar game in order to try to take over this community? The players are there, just come and grab them.

The blog post can be found HERE and reading a bit more of it there seems to be them trying to convince players to keep playing due to them talking about future tournaments and prizes.

Blizzard got a big list for possible heroes

Blizzard got lots of heroes for HotS

Will it save them though?

In a interview the "hero designer" Kent-Erik Hagman spoke with enthusiasm about all the possibilities they have with different heroes that they want to add to the game.
This was at BlizzCon 2015 by the way.

I mean, they do have large titles with a large amount of different characters to choose from. But even if they would add 200 new heroes. Would people play the game?

Like I mentioned on the last episode of "The Fit Gamer Podcast". They created Heroes of the Storm when the Moba scene were already full with fans of Dota2 and League of Legends. HotS started the race when the other titles were miles away already.

Apparently a new game mode will be implemented as well. Something called "The Arena" and new battlegrounds. This won't make me play less League of Legends and go play Heroes of the Storm instead though. And I don't think many people will either.

Kent-Erik has got some serious enthusiasm though. Maybe they will pull some big move that will attract some players again?
The two-player character is the latest thing. Sounds like something fun for a casual game. I don't think that they will manage to create this large competitive scene that League of Legends and Dota2 has. I think the game will be a casual game without a focus on rankings and big tournaments/leagues with huge amounts of money for the winners.

My quest for big arms

My quest for big arms

I feel like this will be a post that I will update as I write more about it. Like at first, there will be the text about the biceps. And this is the way I like to hit my biceps with different exercises. And it will be focused on exercises I am able to perform at home using a barbell and dumbbell.
When we get to the triceps part though it will be more about specific equipment that I do not have at home.

This will be seperated in two parts, biceps and triceps, obviously.

Lets start with the small part, biceps!

Part 1 Biceps

Lets start out by making something clear. Biceps is the muscle on the front side of your upper arm. When using a screwdriver for example, you can see how the biceps is working.

And another announcement. Many people are working out their biceps way too often when trying to grow big arms. The main focus should be triceps simply because it is a bigger muscle.

This is probably the one muscle that you can exercise at home, as efficient as you can do at the gym. Personally I got a small barbell and a dumbbell for the job. I got a pair of kettlebells as well but I can't say I have any use of those when training biceps.
Lets just say I haven't really tried to learn different tecniques with them.

When standing in front of a mirror it is easy to see the biceps muscle work. Using the dumbbell there are different ways I like to work out.

Starting with the dumbbells

To get strict form and isolation I just elevate the dumbbell without any turning movement. That is not however what ignite the devil inside.

When standing up in front of a mirror and lifting the dumbbell, turning it while elevating. That is where I lift the heaviest weights. Yes, it is definitely not an isolated biceps workout. To be able to lift heavier dumbbells my back needs to keep my position straight. And as I go as heavy as that I am also activating the muscles nearby like shoulders and chest.

If you are to combine a lot of different body parts together in a weekly schedule you might want to consider how much you want to allow the exercises to wear out other muscles. But my focus now is biceps, which means that I am allowed to do whatever the fuck I want. And I do love lifting heavy dumbbells.

Another thing that makes me feel really good when lifting is to lift more towards my chest than just straight up beside the body. It will activate the chest muscles to some degree but I love it.

When using dumbbells you can lift them straight up. You can rotate them or turn like I described it earlier. But there is one more thing. Hammercurls!
The name is almost self-explainatory, you simply lift them straight up like you would hold a hammer.
This has been a part of my biceps workout over the years. I used to have like one isolated exercise, one with a turning motion and the hammer curls. Besides those I could throw in whatever I felt like. But exercises like the hammercurls were standard in every biceps workout.
Careful though, you don't want to drop the weights on your feet. My dumbbells are not suited for that exercise. Sometimes I put some tape on it to make them more safe. The locking mechanism is not something I can trust.
At the gym though I have never seen dumbbells that are not completely safe. It is those dumbbells that you "build" yourself by adding weights that can be tricky.

And we also have the barbell

When using the barbell you can't make the turning motions. There are however some things you can do to hit the biceps with different exercises when you use a barbell.
When it comes to biceps. It can be more comfortable to use a so called EZ-kind of grip. While elevating a straight bar, your wrists might feel an uncomfortable twist. I can honestly say that I don't fully appreciate the motion at times. But it is not an exercise that I do very often which makes it okay.

But that is another story. The one I am having at home is a regular one.
To get a different feel when lifting it you can simply alter the distance between your hands when you grip the bar.

Since I mentioned the way the dumbbell exercises can affect other parts of the body. That is very true when it comes to the barbell as well. Since you are lifting the same weight using both arms, you can lift a lot heavier weights.

And it is easy to understand that when you hold a heavy weight in front of your stomach/chest, your back has to work hard to stay straight.

When lifting lighter weights you can make strict movements to get a isolated result on your biceps. And using heavier weights, you will get more help from other muscles.

Here is the thing though. Biceps is a small muscle. To do isolated exercises you most likely won't need heavy weights at all. But the thing is, and there are stories I have heard from people starting an education to become personal trainers regarding this.

You need to "shock" the muscles with heavier weights than you can handle in isolated strict movements. It can be called cheating when you use other muscles to be able to lift the weight.
But the workout your biceps get when slowly lowering the heavy weights is great!

So I have heard people feeling disappointed at themselves when they have started their education. Because they have been told to do isolated exercises and not cheat.

They have not been very satisfied with their results in the training as a result of this.
I honestly think that it could have been something like the trainer that introduced them wanted to make sure they did not work out too hard at first to avoid injuries. And then they never told them that with time, they can add more weights.

That is exactly like the way I constantly tell you guys to go really slow in the beginning. But as your body is getting used to the workouts you can start to "cheat" to make the muscle grow more efficiently. Muscles grow by being challenged by heavy weights. And by cheating, you are doing exactly that!

Wow, that was starting to get off topic. Back to the barbell biceps exercises I like.

I use slightly different grip between the sets to get different angles in the elbows and so on. And I really like to stand in front of the mirror and watch the biceps work as I lift a heavy barbell.

But truth be told, after doing the heavy sets. Then I go lighter and really goes for broke. Hopefully I have been doing it well enough to make the biceps feel like they are burning.

This is the point during the workout I don't like to see hot chicks walk by watching me lifting these light weights looking like I am about to crumble from the weights.

You can watch videos on different HERE! It is a link to another part of my blog where I gathered a lot of exercises by which body parts they are hitting. Use that "database" to find new exercises, new ways to train your different muscles.

Triceps

This is a beautiful muscle. Before googling for pictures and finding this one with Arnold I had not made the connection with the horseshoe shape. But hey, it does look like that!

And here is another picture showing the triceps that I will be talking about in this post. The main muscle on the arm when we talk about mass.

Some favorite exercises

The cable cross is where I often spend quite some time during the triceps workout. The exercises I am referring to is pushdowns with a rope and with a straight bar.
Lately I have been asking myself why these exercises are so important to me when it comes to, 'how I work out my triceps'.

And to answer my own question, I have been doing it for so many years that it feels like, 'it is how it is to be done'. But as the years have gone and I have been learning more about how to create better workout schedules I have been doing other exercises a lot more than these pushdowns.

And saying that I have been doing less of these, is not saying that I am not doing them. I really enjoy this exercise, using the rope in particular. I can find it uncomfortable for the wrists to use a straight bar which makes me want to use the rope when my arms are really tired. Therefore I can really get that last energy out of my triceps by using the ropes where my grip is really flexible.

The exercises that I have been focusing more during the last few years are benchpress with a "less wide grip" to hit the triceps.

I do not lower the bar all the way down to the chest as well. That is a really nice way to hit the triceps with heavy weights.
It is easy to use a "Smith machine" as well. That one is actually perfect to use at first since you can get used to the exercise without having to think about balancing the bar in all different directions. And if you fail to lift the weight, there are a safety function allowing you to lock the bar in place.

Dips is one of the most classic exercises when people talk about triceps. This is actually something that people are competing in. There are perhaps no world championships but there are strict rules on how to perform a correct dip.

I have to admit that I haven't really got a clue on what that means. I just do it without feeling any pain in the shoulders or elbows. Since when doing this exercise, those areas might actually hurt if done wrong.

With a wider grip, you hit the chest a bit more as well. So depending on what you are after, just alter your grip!

There are different ways to perform dips using different weights than just your bodyweight. You can either use a belt where you attach more weights. Or if you want to lower the weight you can use a machine where you stand on a plate that makes it easier. I prefer to use a machine where I sit and push down handles.
When I am done with the workout I enjoy sitting down in that one and just get that last bit of energy out of the triceps.

In the section called 'Gym Exercises' you can find the videos of different exercises. There are a lot of ways to work out your triceps. Basically just find the ones that you enjoy doing. There will always be people saying that some exercises are the best but I would say that the exercises that you enjoy and really master - those are the ones that will help you with your muscle growth.

It is possible to exercise the triceps at home as well. But since muscles grow from being challenged with weights this exercise is a bit tricky to work out at home since it is mostly pushing exercises that activates it.

A normal pushup but with a less wide "grip" is targeting the triceps. But the lack of weights make it less efficient. If you are however just starting out your life around training and building muscles it might not be a bad exercise to use in the beginning. Since you will most likely not use very heavy weights at the gym, the difference in weights is not that big.

Pushups can always be done. If you are watching TV, playing games or just stare at a wall. You can take a 2 minute break and do as many pushups as you can and then continue with what you were doing. I am rarely doing these nowadays, maybe if I know that I will not go to the gym for a while for some reason. Then it could be a way to maintain the muscles.

After a nice triceps workout at the gym when I walk around feeling "pump" in both arms it is simply a great feeling. It is one of the reasons why I keep coming back to the gym. Except for the obvious result of getting in shape, these small kicks of awesomeness is small rewards along the way.

Football Manager gets competition

90 Minute Fever offers new manager game for soccer

The video above is a teaser, or it is called a teaser anyway. Not much in that one to be honest.

It seems to me that it is something that is not really challenging Football Manager like the news I read wanted it to be. It is a game where you can play live against real players.

Wait a minute. You have been able to do that in Football Manager (Championship Manager before, same developers) for at least 12 years. I don't see a new company coming into this very special market to take over or even being able to challenge properly.

Is it free-to-play?
Maybe it will get a few players. But unless they release it for free, I don't see it. The community surrounding Football Manager is way too strong.

Uefa Euro 2016 free for PES-players

If you own PES2016 you will get Uefa Euro 2016

This could be some fantastic news for people not quite sure whether or not to purchase the Uefa Euro 2016. If you own PES 2016, you will get to play the Uefa Euro 2016 for free!

I have not been following the PES series in recent years. Back when I played it, Collina was on the cover, staring you down with those eyes.
It seems like there has been a tough time for PES fans with problems with something gamereactor mentioned as "data packs".

As far as I know these data packs contain new stadiums, new kits etc. I am not sure however if there are micro transactions involved. Which seems like it could be, considering the fact that many games nowadays are using that tactic to get some extra cash.

Congratulations PES fans!

Sweden qualified for the Euro2016!

Zlatan is the hero - Euro2016 here we come!

Looking at the squads and the way that the teams had performed before this double fixtures between Sweden and Denmark - it looked like it would be tough for Sweden.

During the first game Sweden really played well until the clock hit 65 minutes. The energy they had spent outplaying the danes had taken its toll. Denmark took over completely and got the goal that would give them a fifty-fifty chance in the second game.

Tonights game, the second one. Sweden travel to Denmark with the 2-1 victory. Like I wrote earlier, I figured that Sweden had to score to have a chance to win the double fixture.

Luckily, we have the Zlatan!

He scored twice giving us a 2-0 lead and now the danes had to score 4 to win. When it was like 15 minutes left or something they had really started to fight back.
They got 2-1 and then after a few minutes they got their second goal. 2-2 in the game, but 4-3 to Sweden in the total scores.
And counting the away goals that Sweden had scored the danes still needed two more goals and there just wasn't enough time for that.

It was truly a great display from Sweden. The best two games they have played in years, and they make it in this crucial double fixture. How perfect is that?

Last time we were in the play offs. It was to the World Championship. Zlatan scored a few there as well. But Portugal had a star of their own and he basically shut down us on his own. Scoring more goals than Zlatan. Cristiano Ronaldo, do I need to say more?

But this time, the opponents did not have anyone to match the quality that is Zlatan.

Now it is settled. The summer will be spent barbequing and watching the Euro2016!

New set of goals

Time to set new goals

Someone measured the waist of my kid and announced 53cm. My mind started to think about upper arm width.
I guess it can be considered to be a strange association to make. But that is the way my mind works, and I love it! Either way. I am going for growth this winter.

Lets set a crazy goal and see what happends. I figure if I aim for the stars I will reach the tree tops at the very least.

35cm around the bicep after not being able to work out for 7 weeks. So after not being able to work out for such a long time. The motivation is insane, the urge to work out is really strong.
My prediction is that I will get a quick result just by doing a few workouts, since I usually work out regurarely and now I haven't done jack shit.

But like I mentioned above. Lets go wild, I'll try to get close to the waist measurement of my kid. Now, that is not something being achieved over night. But like I said, lets go wild!

I will of course not just perform workouts for my biceps if I gave you that impression. I just measured around the bicep when  Triceps are roughly two thirds of the arms size, so triceps is going to get a lot of focus.

While hitting triceps however I will often activate the peccs, aka chest. So when I focus arms I will automatically get some nice exercise for other parts of the body. I will also use some rowing exercises and shoulder exercises to hit the arms in a different way.

Legs are something I figure I should focus. Over the years I have had different focuses. I believe it is time for the legs and ass to get some love as well.

Arms and legs will recieve that extra attention from now on. Good ones to combine as well. As I perform one exercise for the legs, my arms are resting and so on.

What is my current status?
Before these 7 weeks of not being able to exercise I was really happy with the way things were going. I was on the right track.

A nice receipt for that was on my first visit to the doctors office and they would listen to my lungs. So I had to take my shirt off and the doctor immediately says:
"You do know that you can't work out while being sick, right?"

It is the mindset I am proud to have. I immediately took it as a compliment. I interpreted it as the doctor thought I work out regularely and possibly even like I just did it before coming in to the doctors office.
The importance of having the right mindset will be in another post. But it is important to find a balance. There is a reason why top top athletes can be considered having really extreme personalities.

Twitter should have a sign saying spoiler alert

Twitter will spoil any event you don't watch live

I realized last night that Twitter is great at spreading news. However, the times you want to avoid certain results from matches or fights - you better stay away from Twitter!

It is not as easy as it sounds. By default you open the app on your phone just like you always do. And it is always too late before you realize your mistake.

And even though you don't follow people from that certain sport. There are always someone watching the match/fight that is  eager to tell the world about their experience. It could be someone that is usually posting great work out tips and all of a sudden he/she is watching an exciting football match and tweets about the standings.

Sweden is ahead against denmark

Sweden ahead

But statistics say that the advantage is less than one percent. When the score is 1-2 the chance for the away team to win is somewhere between 50% and 51%.

And the way the last 25 minutes looked. I'd say Sweden will have a hard time winning it.

It most likely comes down to two things. Sweden can't afford to make mistakes like we saw in the defence during the last game. And Sweden will probably have to score.

If Denmark win with 1-0 they will win the spot in Euro2016. And I don't believe Sweden will manage a clean sheet.

If Sweden qualifies, it will be by 1-1 in the game on tuesday. Remember where you read it first!

Womens workouts shouldn't differ from mens?

Are women an alien specie

Why wouldn't their bodies respond to training in the same way?

Nowadays you can see women in the gym doing proper workouts. Going back a while the health tips women got from magazines (and still is?) were not at all what men is instructed to do. What kind of exercises to choose etc.

Women do not have the same genetics when it comes to growing muscle. That is a known fact that is hard to argue against. But women do live lives where they need strength. So then they need to grow muscles.

For a looong time men has been chasing heavier and heavier weights in order to grow muscles and become stronger. Muscles grow when they are lifting weights. Basically you cause minor damage to muscle fibres that after the work out starts to heal. When they have healed the muscle grows stronger. Very simply put.

Since men live after that fact and has been doing it for a long time. Why do society keep giving women advices to do something completely different?

Not to risk injury?

Women should work out and build strength just to avoid getting injured in everyday life. The biological way our body builds muscle is the same for men and women. So why not do the same exercises but not as heavy as the men. But still challenging your body to grow muscle?

Don't think I am being sexist when it comes to what kind of career women/men chooses. There are a lot of women working with the things I mention below. And when it comes to the men having the same career, as I mentioned above. They are often doing proper exercises already.

Going to endure a pregnancy? That can be tough on your body. Especially your back from carrying all that weight.

Working with kids? Nursing elder people? As a vet nursing animals? In any way working with helping people with physical problems which means they need help from you to move properly?
Working with humans or animals is always taking a risk. They have a mind of their own and can all of a sudden shift their weights without you being prepared for it. Construction workers do heavy lifting but it is dead things that they balance with total control.

Lets make an example.

A)
You are working in a warehouse lifting heavy boxes regurarely. That is definitely heavy work that will put your body under stress. But the boxes are dead things and the way you handle them, that is the way they will behave.

B)
You are working with something that is alive. Perhaps you will help an elder person to stand up from a sofa. It is weight on your back and you are bending your body to help the person in the best possible way.
In the middle of this lifting movement, the person decides that he/she wants to sit back down and all of a sudden sits down into the sofa again.
You are not prepared for this and all of a sudden your body is trying to carry ALL of this persons weight.
This is a real danger for your body, your back in particular.

This is not something that is rare. People who have worked with anything alive like this knows it for a fact. You have to be prepared for things like this and even though you are prepared for it - your body might not be able to cope with it. Especially not over the course of many years.

Just by walking around in this world, as the years pass. Your back is aging, your entire body is aging. We grow more fragile with time. That is the way our body works.

As a kid our bones are more or less like rubber. They can bend without breaking. As we grow older our bones will be a lot more fragile and will not tolerate bending or twisting.

Our back is an amazing thing. All those nerves that goes through it. And the discs in the back are fantastic to allow our back to give us the mobility in almost any direction.

These discs are however fragile. You might even have damages on discs without knowing it. If they are not broken in a spot where they affect the nerves or other important pressure points on the discs - we just walk around thinking it is normal aging. And it might even be considered to be just that.

Anyway, back to the discussion regarding the gym. To perform a work out for your mid section on a regular basis is a good investment. You are making the muscles stronger and allows them to support your spine better.
Take your shoulders for example, just to make it clear that it is not just the back I am talking about. The deltoids (muscles on your shoulders) are covering the shoulder where the arm is attached to your body in a cup. They are providing stability and protects the shoulder from dislocating.

Muscles are working wonders to support our different skeletal parts.

Women
Not that I want to generalize too much. Don't take this in the wrong way, have a sense of humor when it comes to the gender generalisations that we have.

Men are often considered gentlemen when they are doing the heavy lifting. But at the same time, it gives them the advantage of growing stronger. While the females are not getting the same training for their bodies. That way, if a situation would appear where the female is the subject of a heavy weight unexpectedly, her body is not as prepared for it.

Hitting the gym When going to the gym for the first time. Or actually the first months. Make sure you are careful. Allow your body to get used to all new movements with weights that you make it endure.
The same goes for men, of course. No point in telling them though. They will never listen.
Women tend to understand the need for caution on another level.
Women more often than men, have the courage to say "This is enough, I need to listen to my body and lower the weights to avoid injury". Where as the men in many cases puts on a brave face to gain approval of his friends.
I am not saying some men are dumb. I am saying, I was like that too. It is almost as if it is in our genes, and it almost is. The testosterone!
It was more important to increase the weights than being careful and avoid injuries.

Think of your body as a sculpture
Bodybuilders ain't aliens. They are humans like anyone of us. And not everyone has used steroids. Honestly, most people don't want the look of those belgian blues that are on stage in a small thong.

Anyway, they talk about their body in a way that we can learn from. Sometimes they refer to their bodies as sculptures. They stand in front of a mirror and say, "I would like to change that exact spot on my arm". Then they can go into the gym, adjust their work out and then get the result they wanted.

The normal person won't have the same goal for perfection. It is not the way your biceps are shaped that you will be going for. But maybe you do have some particular body part that you are more intrested in shaping in a certain way.

Lets take jeans for an example. Many women can say stuff like they wish their ass looked better in a tight pair of jeans. Hey girls! Go to the gym and work that ass!
Like the body builders goes for trimming on a detail level, like the young guys are obsessed with their peccs - you can perform a work out that focuses on the ass.

The best way I suppose would be to go to the staff at the local gym or if they have personal trainers employed. There are loads of female personal trainers now as well, if that would make it easier for you to speak more openly about what you want to achieve

The staff can show you which machines/exercises that target the specific area that you want to improve the most.
So you can do overall workout throughout the week but focusing a few extra exercises on that particular area. There is a reason that the exercises hitting the chest is always occupied by teenage boys! Most of them focus that and spend a lot of time doing those exercises.

If you don't want to go talk to someone or consider it to be expensive with a personal trainer. Check out the Internet. There are a lot of people doing blogs or websites that might have the appearence you are looking for and share his/hers work out tips.

If you are looking for exercises that hits the different areas of the body you can click HERE to check out the part of my blog where I have gathered a lot of exercises all divided by what areas of the body they are targeting
There are videos of them, showing how they are performed as well.

You can tweet me @podcasterroman or leave a comment to this post. I could do a general post regarding a specific area of the body or you could leave me an emailaddress where I can reach you.
(When you leave a comment it won't get published until I approve it, so if you want me to send you an email with a reply I will not post your comment revealing your email address.)

Come to think about it. I think I might start to write a few posts regarding the most popular areas that people are intrested.

Great idea Roman.

*Pats myself on the back*

So this post has been a lot or rambling about different things. I believe that I got my message through though. I am not linking to special sources etc. This is not supposed to be a book with laws to follow. Simply open your eyes. There are reasons for exercise. It is not impossible to achieve things.

Don't be afraid to go to the gym and get some real weight training done. Nowadays there are a lot of girls in the gyms. Even though most of them still goes to these classes where there is a trainer running the show.
That might be the way to go for you. There are some of those that provides you with great training for your entire body. Just don't stare blindly at it and go do some regular weight lifting as well.

Your body is capable of that sculpturing, all it takes is some knowledge.

Football Manager 2016 First Impression

First Impressions of Football Manager 2016

To understand my mindset coming into this game. You might want to know that I have been playing this game series since 2000 and getting a copy of the game each year. The previous one, I played 716 hours. So no matter what, I will always recommend this game to people that are into the world of soccer and are more intrested in the tactical approach rather than playing with a controller and your skill determines whether or not you win.

Sure, I played a lot of Fifa growing up but I got tired of being able to beat the best teams in the world with some lower league crappy side just because I was good with a controller. The lack or realism bothered me way too much.

So this is a post where I will mention some of the new features in the game. I am not talking about the stuff that was in there from previous versions. I will say this though, the content from previous versions are world class!

There are no other game in the world with the same replay value like this has. You can choose from thousands of teams from all over the world. One "save" will not be like the other.

I love Football Manager!

I have been waiting for this for a long time. And I even got to wait two weeks extra due to a misunderstanding when I placed my order for the game. I actually thought I would get to play the beta like I have been able to do in the previous games.
Now I ordered it in the exact same way but this time the beta was to the digital versions only.

Enough about that. Now I do have the game!

I opened up the package and inside above the CD were the code. The Steam activation code. In capital letters and numbers.
When typing it into my Steam client I just typed in small letters to make it as fast as possible. But after finishing the code I felt a bit sad.
It felt wrong. This was a big moment, installing the new Football Manager. The 16th version of the game that I am installing. So I used backspace to delete the code that I had entered and started over.
This time using Caps Lock! To get that fantastic feeling from growing up installing video games the code has to use capital letters!

Starting the game
One of the things I was most curious about was the feature that allow the players to create their own clubs. I figured that you would start at the lowest possible league with nothing and then start building a club.
I was wrong, very wrong. You get to choose a club, any club, and then rename it to whatever name you would like.

You get to keep the squad as well. This works a lot like the editors back in the days of Championship Manager 01/02. You can add any player to your team. And you can remove players from your squad that  you don't want.

You can also add two players that you create. And as far as I know, you can create a 14 year old with max stats in everything that can play on any position. I am okay with that. The game has a broader audience nowadays. The people who wants it realistic can just avoid doing that and the ones that want to have a laugh creating themselves as the worlds best footballer gets the chance to do that.

There is one big advantage with this mode implemented into the game. When we approach September of 2016 and the developers are busy with the next game and won't release any patches with new line-ups. We can easily create that updated squad to our favorite team using this mode. This feature allows the game to last longer! It's like viagra for Football Manager!

Steam Cloud is amazing. Now I can play the same save from my laptop and on my gaming computer without any fuzz about having to use dropbox or USB-stick to transfer my saved games. You will have to choose that option when saving your game though. To save it on Steam Cloud.

Like I said I am using my laptop as well as my gaming computer. On my laptop I am not watching the games with the match engine, just using the commentary option. That is not because it is not working however. I am afraid that there will be delays and lags when I want to pause the game to make a tactical change.
The game is working really fine on my 4-5 year old laptop actually. I did not think it would. And on my "real" computer it is amazing!

Tactical Screen
This has changed a lot. And it will probably take some time to get used to it and fully take advantage of all the new options that are in there. One comment overall is that it is a lot more graphical which makes it easier to understand what the hell I am adjusting.

For example when I choose if my defensive line will play low or push up I can see on the pitch where my current setting will have them stand.
The same with the play width option. Basically everything in the "instructions tab" is graphical and self explainatory now.

Staff Management
I had never bothered to learn properly how to adjust everything about the staff in the previous FM. Now it is really easy to see the whole picture. You can see how many vacant spots you have for coaches, scouts and doctors. And in the same screen you see which kind of coaches you have as well. If you need a new one, just click a button and an ad will appear in the paper and people will apply for the job. It can't get any easier.

Transfers and Contracts
I haven't played around a lot on the transfer market yet. The contracts however is something I like. You get a lot of extra help during contract signings like if you choose a date for when the contract is due to expire it automatically tells you if it is 11 months, 2 years or 5 years from now.

When in contract talks with a staff member for example. The game tells me how many spots I have, how many are vacant in that staff role that I am currently trying to sign him for. So that helps me getting the correct number of staff members on every position. And this is not the most fun part of the game so I appreciate any help to make it easier to understand.

Game experience
At first I tried to create a few clubs to check that feature out a bit. Then I quickly realized however, I am old school. I want to play the normal mode until I get tire from it and then I will play around with the "create a club" mode.
To pretend to be a manager is often, to try to do better than the current manager does. And since I follow Premier League I just had to start with Chelsea.

It is a perfect choice since I don't want to use my favorite clubs to learn the game. When I first manage Manchester United for example, I don't want to fail due to mistakes done since I don't understand the game.

I enjoy every minute of the game so far. Finding new stuff constantly. I am not a player who wins the champions league with every team I manage even when starting in lower leagues.
I am not surfing the Internet for these fantastic wonderkids that will be the best in the world in 3 years. I try to play with realism. However, I am too colored by my in real life intrest in the world of football. I favor certain players even though I really should get rid of them, or not purchase them to my club.
But having those players in my team is what makes this game experience so great.

That is my approach to it. Every player has his or her own way of playing and reasons for loving it. Either way, it is hard not to like it if you are into football.

Dead Space

Started to play Dead Space

As usual I found something on the Steam sales. This time it was the Dead Space series
I happened to purchase the first Dead Space title for my Play Station 3 a while back. It was on sale and even a used copy, that someone sold back to the store.
Recently I have listened to a lot of podcasts and when Dead Space 3 comes up in discussion I get the impression that the first two Dead Space are games I really want to play. But that I can skip the third one.

Anyway, the games were on sale on Steam. Since I have the first one for my Play Station 3 I just bought the second one on Steam. So now I have started to play the first one to complete that story before I go on to play the second one on my computer.
I believe it will be funny to stream that game! Some scary enviroments for sure! Bound to be some funny scary moments for the viewers!

What do I make of it so far? Is it any good?
Well it has a great atmosphere to it. That is for sure. Being in space on a space station or something where hell has broken loose.

When walking it sounds like you are wearing one of those metal suits that you would imagine divers used in their first attempts ever to go deep into the ocean in the 17th century. And those damn steps alone is enough to freak you out. Sounds like you are a Transformer trying to sneak silently. Try play the Thief series with a Transformer. That is a good explanation.
Then when you are stomping around all of a sudden monsters jump down from the roof or out of a wall. Shiet! Ruuun!

At least I have a gun and some powers. That gives me a chance to survive for a bit longer. Hopefully I can survive long enough to finish the story and then I can go on to the second game in the series.
