Dead Sea

Dead Sea purchased

I am not sure why. Maybe I simply like to torture myself. I bought another early access game. I would say that i have at least 10 of them in my Steam library. And I am pretty sure some of them will never leave the developing state and become a finished product. But I guess I am thrilled by the idea of purchasing a product cheaply in the early stages and then it will grow to be something big. And that would leave me with an advantage having played it since the early days.

The latest addition is Dead Sea. I installed it and was surprised of how big the game is. Took a while do download.
Then I started the game and I got to see sand. A whole lot of sand! Not much else though since I died from thirst and too much sun. It warned me that it is challenging. I like that in a game. Surviving is not supposed to be easy!

So, a lot of sand huh? I did find some water bottles and something to eat. That helped me for a few minutes. A few issues though.
The controls are not to be found anywhere in-game. I guessed my way into surviving 5 minutes. I need to know how I can pick up stuff and build shelters etc. There were boards on the ground that I did not know how to interract with.

I like the idea of a survival game in the desert. You can argue that a lot of games is out there and all has been done already. But there is yet to be a big survival game in the desert. So good idea developers!

If I understood the texts correctly there will be different events like sand storms to make it harder. And that sand storms were the only thing implemented so far. And as you can see on the image above, there are likely to be some big ass monsters as well.

This game surely has potential. I just hope that the development process will continue and not stop like some early access do. Looking forward to playing this with friends in the future!

Betting on sports

Betting on sports = making sports more intresting

I have started to follow the English Premier League again. Obviously there has been a summer vacation for the players etc but I did not activate my TV-channels until quite recently. Lack of time has kept me from feeling relaxed enough to just sit down and enjoy a game of soccer.
Now though the channels are active and I am all over the podcasts discussing what is happening on and off the pitch.

Another thing that really makes the games more intresting is placing a bet on them. It is soo much more fun to watch a game. More adrenalin pumping when you have a small bet on the result. It does not even have to be a big one.
I am not really familiar with the way you usually bet in the U.S or elsewhere. But in Sweden we have the most classic bet where you bet on 13 english matches. Premier league and championship mostly but I think that there are sometimes games from lower divisions as well.

Anyway. So I have started to get intrested in that way of betting again. It is not easy to find the winner in 13 games at once. If it would have been a regular bet with 13 games that had to be correct we all know that it was doomed.
However I have a few games where I can go with 2 different results and I can even choose all three, 1X2. But then I would have to pay for that as well though. So to be able to win, if you suck. You have to pay more money to get a few extra options.

It is one thing betting on the Premier League. I know what those teams are all about and I could probably guess who will win 9 times out of 10. But there are no guarentees in this league though. The teams behind the top four are rich and have gotten really good players as well. Which means that if the top teams don't play at the top of their game there might be an upset.

And honestly. The big difference is in many ways the reserves. During a long season you will have injuries. The bigger clubs have great players as substitutes as well as in the starting eleven. The teams that are not as rich are not having as many options on each position. So over the season they will probably lose players to injuries and bans that they can't really replace and the levels of their performance will drop.

When it comes to the Championship though. There are so many teams. And some that I have barely even heard of. Most of them is familiar to me from Football Manager over the years. But that does not really give me an idea of how good they are in real life and in year 2015. Charlton for example. They were in the Premier League when I started to watch it. Now they are closer to being relegated from the Championship than they are to promotion to the Premier League.

Many of my "safety options" (can't come up with a better term for choosing two different outcomes, X2 or 1X etc) when I place my bets are basically used to cover for my lack of knowledge about the teams. Sure, one team can be in the top of the table. But what do I know, they might have 5 injuries and 3 bans at the moment. I would have no idea.
That makes my life as a betting man tough.

When it comes to the Premier League I would know that since I listen to several different sources of news surrounding the league.

If I continue to do this betting thing on a weekly basis I might as well put up my bets here just in case anyone is intrested. It is always a good idea to see what information other people have found regarding each game. Are there injuries? Any big games coming up making the team playing with a less strong starting eleven?

The example this week is Arsenal. I think they have a few injuries or bans. And at the same time they are about to play FC Bayern soon which means they might want to save some players for that big and important game.
If I was not just tricked by the podcast I am listening to, Swansea won both games last year. That means that Swansea will come in full of confidence and some of the Arsenal players might still remember those games and play less confident.

I did not know this when I placed my bet though. I wish I had those facts when I did. I would definitely have considered that Swansea might win or at least get a X.

Podcast vs Radio

Any difference between podcasts and radio shows?

I mean, I am confused. And I am actually co-hosting a podcast. Since in Sweden, the swedish radio is having an app for their shows.
And I mean. What is the difference between those episodes and podcasts. They are both found on Podcaster. I even think some begin by saying "hi and welcome to this podcast".

Is the difference that podcasts are just not bound to a radio station or big company?
Nope. That is not it. Since a lot of media groups and companies have podcasts. And they are big brands with a lot of money supporting their podcast.

It feels like in podcasts, people are not as careful with what they say. Since it is "just on the podcast". Am I right?

Like I wrote regarding streaming, this feels like the future. I am not sure how though. Because in some way, when something grows big there will be a lot of laws and rules made up just because of money. And money is power.

Will we see companies owning the market? Radio should not disappear but on those radio frequencys it might be podcasts broadcasted.  For people commuting there will probably always be some kind of radio available.
Or will the 4G etc simply be the only thing left?
From 4G you could stream your list of shows you have put together on a tracklist. And the towers made for radio should work for 4G as well?
Now most podcasts are living on sponsor money I'd say. Some are like I said owned by media companies but I mean the majority.

So if the trend of podcasts all of a sudden disappears. I bet there will be a lot of famous podcasters that will be employed by radio stations all over the world. Since they do apparently have the ability to get people intrested in what they are saying.

FML - Trolled by life!

FM16 Beta out - I do not get to play!

I pre-purchased Football Manager 2016 since I got a discount via a FM-website and I figured that beta is awesome. It turns out however, that I will not get to play the beta! The agony!

Apparently beta is not available for those purchasing the physical copy of the game that way this year. Why the hell not?! It has worked out fine the previous years!

So I just get to blame myself for not reading the fucking fine print this time. However it could have been made more clear I would suggest.

So now I will sit idle for 2 weeks just thinking about playing the new Football Manager.

Streaming is huuge!

Streaming is the future way of entertainment

I suppose you have not missed the trend of streaming. The kind I am referring to is Twitch.tv for example. The amount of total views each days on that site is astronomical! Jesus!
Who has lost all these viewers? Since everyone is hanging out at Twitch.

Television! Back in the days people used to watch a lot of TV. We were creating a schedule to fit in the specific times our favorite shows were on.

Now we can interract with the persons we are looking at. The chats are spammed on the popular streams. TV-shows got really bad statistics compared to just a few years back. Will TV as we know it even exist if this continues?
Or will they just disappear into these streaming services like Netflix?

As an example, one guy is called Lirik. I apologize if I am not remembering correctly but I think that he started out playing games on stream. Then DayZ came along. The mod for Arma2.
He got rather good at that game and finished high in tournaments and stuff. Now though, it does not matter what he plays.
He can pick up an Indie game and stream it and the Twitch community follows. When you check what games are currently popular you can see some shitty game that you never heard about BEING THE MOST WATCHED GAME! And then you can be sure that Lirik is currently online streaming that game.
Last night he had 58k viewers when I logged onto Twitch. That is a city full of people and it is not something competitive they are watching either.

Games like Counter Strike and Dota2 are getting challenged by these characters like Lirik. The total views of big titles is about the same numbers as the people currently watching him.

These streamers are getting money from people that subscribes to their channel, people donating money to support them and commercial breaks they have while streaming. So the trend will not stop because these guys are likely to stop doing what they do.

We are probably witnessing the beginning of what will be the future of television. To be able to interract with the shows.

There are not just gaming shows on Twitch. People have talk shows (podcasts live) and create music or drawings - and you can watch it LIVE!

Cooking shows will come soon too if you ask me. Haven't we all wanted to tell the TV chef "This bullshit is not working! What am I doing wrong?!".
Using streaming I would be able to reach the chef in real time and get an explanation. Enough said!

Comments from Worlds

Quarter finals and semi finals are done

I am definitely cheering for EU and NA, simply because these teams are familiar to me. I can't say I were too familiar with Origin as a team but Soaz and xPeke are big names and has been for a long time.
Unfortunately for the fans xPeke announced even before Worlds that he would quit the game. Considering his great way to play with intelligence. I am hoping that he is coming back into the world of gaming. Perhaps he wants to do like HotshotGG and Reginald did at CLG and TSM. They stepped down from playing in the team to go into management full time, taking care of business.
Actually, when reading some about it it seems that the rumours already say that he intends to be involved like HotshotGG and Reginald.
Whatever he chooses to do. Lets hope that he is successful and coming from this competitive scene I have no doubt that he will be successful. It does not matter what he does. These pro players got to have the perfect state of mind where they believe strongly that they can do anything and that allows them to be successful.

Origin lost the lottery. They got to play against SKT in the semi finals. SKT had not even lost a tier 2 turret during the entire Worlds. During the entire worlds! They are simply here to just collect the trophy and go home.
However, Origin played well and impressed me. It was a 3-0 loss in games. But considering the earlier stats in this tournament, they forced SKT to up their game.

Fnatic got to play against KOO. I guess this was our hope to have a European or a North American team in the final. Unfortunately they could not match KOO and lost by 3-0. Small mistakes being made that KOO used to get the advantage in the games. And not just mistakes, KOO do have some really good players of course. But at this level when the players are so good, it is often the mistakes that decides who will be the winner.

Fnatic were close to turn the game in, I believe it was, game 2. They had inhibitors down etc and were pressured. They managed to get a Baron though and got a chance to get back. KOO did finish the game and won it though. But there was a glimpse of hope for the Fnatic fans in the audience.

So KOO vs SKT in the big final. Who will win?
Probably SKT looking back at the way the tournament has played out so far. But who knows, maybe KOO do have some trick up their sleeve. If they can avoid these misplays that most teams do sometimes they might as well win it.
They do have a week or so to prepare for the matches, preparing strategies and preparing picks and bans that might chock us all!

Goal with training

What is the goal with working out

Today a lot of the focus is about the percentage of body fat. We are moving away from the whole alpha male thing. But will that really go away?

Broad shoulders and a generally strong looking appearence is sending signals of security. Back in the days, when life was all about hunting for food and defending your family/tribe. Then it was everything that matters one might think.
Nowadays society is a lot different and money is more powerful than muscles in most cases.

I still think that it is a lot of charm in the big-ass-muscle-appearence though. Feel like that is probably the way to go at the moment. I started out the autumn with that idea but then I signed up for a running competition and felt I had to train a bit for that.
And that does not go well with the idea of just growing in size. So I put it on hold for the time being.

Now though. I think it is time!

What is happening Chelsea

What is up Chelsea?

So Chelsea played against West Ham today.

I do not want to take anything away from West Ham. They played well and it is not their first win over big clubs this season. And this was an away game for Chelsea.

However, the way Chelsea lost is why people starts to wonder what is going on. One red card on the pitch. Matic got a second yellow card and was sent off. So it was not some random red card due to fighting or something like that.

The odd thing that happened was the other two red cards. One staff member was sent away during the first half and when the second half started the Chelsea manager was not allowed to sit on the bench. He had done something during the pause to deserve a red card if I understood it correctly.
A club where the manager and other staff members can't keep their temper, what does that mean? Is it a crisis? Results are definitely not going their way.

It should be impossible for them to win the Premier League this season. To reach qualifications for the continental cups should be possible though. They have such a good team if they just started to play as a team again.

I would miss Chelsea in the top 4 if they do not improve as the season continues. They have such an amazing squad with a lot of players that give the games that little extra entertainment value.

Roman goes top lane

Top Lane Roman

Worlds is at the moment making every League of Legends player extra motivated. So am I. A couple of weeks back I figured that jungling would be a great position to learn.
Since I don't play very much I prefer to choose one role to be a better player. It turns out that top lane is where I am going instead. And I like it.

Top is a special lane. You are often left alone to farm for a long time. And if you have teleport you can impact other lanes and objectives. What champions do I consider my favorites in the top lane?

Even though it is probably best to play whatever you are most comfortable with at my level I still want to play champions that have an edge.
Nasus for example becomes a big ass turret killing maching with his Q. And he is hard to kill while he can just smash the enemies with Q over and over again during fights.

Another champion that I really like is Fiora. She is banned away often nowadays though. But she is mobile and can deal the true damage by using her vital points.

My latest project is to learn Riven though. She is tough as nails if you can play her well. If you can't however you might suck for the rest of the game not being able to make an impact. She is super mobile, can do a looot of damage and with her mobility she should be able to stay safe as well.

I do like to play ranged champions. It is so much easier to farm safely. But the laning against tough champions will eventually be a disaster when they can close the distance. Besides if I play a ranged champion I will have a hard time being tanky the way I want to be. That is a big part of playing top lane, being a tanky bad ass.
The jungler not always go tank and then it is more important than ever for me to have a tanky champion.

Irelia is a champion that is tough and a safe choice I believe. That might just be me though since I have played her for a few years so she feels easy and natural to play. Not often I do that nowadays though.

Mancold

Mancold - Something real?

"The name 'man cold' disguises the true terrible, debilitating disease that is the man cold. Nearly all men will die from man colds unless they are administered immediately with large amounts of mindless TV such as daytime TV, or childrens' cartoons. It is essential that they not move from bed or a comfy sofa to allow for rehabilitation, and must have tissues and man cold medicine (such as chocolate biscuits, McDonalds, or a nice cup of tea) brought to them constantly by a nearby female."
- Urban Dictionary

It is something that most people laugh at and takes it as an excuse to having a bad cold. But telling people that you are having a man cold simply adds a comedic touch to it. But is there really something to it?

I remember on swedish television there was a commercial back in the 90's with a man having a bad cold and he says something like: "And you women are talking about giving birth..."

I suppose the commercial was for some supplement to get rid of the cold faster or something. Anyway, my point is that society seems to enjoy the "fact" that men gets it worse than women.

Working out while sick is not something to recommend. I mean the chance to get really sick is small. But if you are unlucky, you will regret it for a loooong time. Myocarditis is when the heart muscle gets an inflammation. And if you are unlucky enough to get that, there is a big chance you will get pericarditis as well. When the heart is weakened like that it has problems pumping the blood around enough and you will end up with fluids in lungs and heart sac. If you get this shit you will be away from working out for months.

So guys, if you are feeling sick. Be mature, don't take too big chances.

And if you feel like you really want to work out. How about doing some tecnique training? Perfect your form instead of chase those heavy weights.

Can this have anything to do with the fact that men feel more sick than women? I mean, this talk has been around for a long time. Which means I am referring to way back when the different roles in life for men and women were different.

Nowadays we have come a long way. Women don't just stay home with kids etc, they go to the gym as well and have the same day jobs as the men.

But when this "men gets more sick than women" started. Maybe if the men got a cold, and went to work/work out and then became more sick. While the women did not do as heavy physical work as the men did - which meant they did not get as sick.

A vital point here is the male ego as well. Don't be a wimp! Don't quit! GO harder! Work through the pain! Sports is full of this macho bullshit. You might be the f-ing bomb out there on the field. But you will be less of a tough guy after spending a few months in the hospital I tell you.

Be smart, do your precision workout when you feel sick. The less your heart has to work during the training session the better it is for you.

FYI though. Of course I have been the opposite back in the days. But then again, I did not know better. The chance is really small, but it is there. Just wanted to let you guys know. And even if you don't get that shit. You might make the cold worse and having to spend a longer period of time off the real training.

So it is a choice. Take the chance or play it safe. I guess that is life!

I am not claiming to be a doctor of any kind. I might even have messed up when translating the specifics to english. But it is real and it is bad. Be careful, you are given one body and you will have it for the rest of your lives!

Changes incoming to the meta in League of Legends?

New meta coming in League of Legends?

I consider it a clever move by Riot. Every now and then they make some abilities stronger and some weaker. The new champions is a quick way to change the so called "meta". Throwing in a new champion in the mix with abilities that can do things in a more efficient way than was previously known as the best way to play.

They made the dragon more important due to the buff you get being dependent on how many dragons you have previously killed. That way the teams are fighting regurarely over the dragon. You simply can't afford to give the opponents too many "free dragons" anymore.

Now however I believe there might be something new coming. A new champion has just been released, Kindred. I believe that this is a first step towards more fights happening in the jungle in the early game.

Champion Spotligt Kindred

Kindred is a champion that is mostly played in the jungle. He gets stronger by killing marked targets. Your wolf companion will mark targets at random (jungle monsters though, not champions). You can also mark enemy champions of your choosing though. If you get these marks you will get a permanent buff in your autoattack damage.

Why is this champion so vital to the "new meta" I am talking about?
In this video RIot themselves actually shows players that they are to contest these marks. That often will mean a team fight, like when dragon spawns. I don't think that it is such a stupid guess that future patches will have changes that will keep encouraging early team fights in the jungle.
It seems to be a good way to keep tweaking the game into something "new" in order to avoid losing players. Riot are doing a great job of constantly changing the game.

I can honestly say that I have experienced having troubles catching up to everything that is new when I came from a long break from the game. So the game is definitely changing, which is a good thing like I said.

Steam controller and Mac has compatibility issues

Steam controller + Mac = false at the moment

Valve released Steam controller and Steam Link and sent them to the customers who pre-ordered. A problem appeared however. Those who used Mac could not use their new products due to issues with the compatibility.
A mistake that Valve has been very generous to compensate for though. At least I think it is a pretty sweet deal that is offered to those who got affected by the issue.

They get the Complete Valve Pack which means every game that Valve has released and the future games they will release. And even if they want a refund, they get to keep the games.

Surely I realize that it is a small thing financially for a big company like Valve. But it is a big thing for the people affected. I think that is a really nice thing that Valve did. Thumbs up!

Valve realize the value in keeping customers happy. I sure as hell will be more likely to buy one of their games after I read stuff like this.

Payday 2 implements microtransactions

Payday 2 - now with microtransactions!

All of a sudden Payday 2 is implementing microtransactions.
And not just the I-want-my-character-to-look-different-kind
The different skins you get will actually give you a boost for different stats.

If you just consider the climate in the world of gaming today, there is nothing too weird about that. However! The developer did write on Steam forums a few years back saying

"We've made it clear that Payday 2 will have no microtransactions whatsoever (shame on you if you thought otherwise!)"

Looking back on that statement. They should get to be punished like Harry Potter. Writing the same sentence over and over again. With a special pencil. I must not tell lies

The trailer for Payday 2

Needless to say. The gamers are going berserk. Some spent over a thousand hours playing the game and now all of a sudden this happen.
Players are using the Steam review system to get relieved of their anger. Forums on the Internet is also being used to trash the game, Reddit for example.

Good news site for the Premier League

Where do you get your news from the Premier League?

There are way too many websites nowadays with news, videos etc from the football world. They are so many that there is hard to find the good ones. I am looking for a really solid one. And here are some sites I just checked out quickly in my search for the best site.

Fourfourtwo
Wow. Is there a site below all the pictures all over the screen?

Footytube.com
Seems to be mostly about videos.

Skysports.com/football
This seems to be, by far, the greatest option so far. Anyone got a better site?

Match of the day on youtube (studio with guests like Alan Shearer etc)
You get to see some action from the games and there are a lot of great players talking about the recent games and news. But it is only video, but still great. Don't know how regurarely it comes up on youtube though.

And, yea I mean. You could obviously read the news of each team on their respective websites but will there be real news or "propaganda"? They will most likely not write negative stuff on there.

Gameplay Party Hard

Gameplay video of Party Hard

So wanted to show you guys how this game is. So just enjoy the video. My first ever attempt on a video like this so please consider that when judging it.

Pathology - The Movie

Pathology - The Movie

So I were looking through the content of Viaplay the other night. The Horror section of course. I found a movie from 2008 that I had not seen.
It turned out to be great. The plot is so insane but still so intresting that you are almost afraid of yourself for liking it.

Take a look at the trailer below. It is a movie I'd recommend if you don't mind freaky shit.

From the creators of Crank says it all, does it not?

Hearthstone - Heroes of Warcraft

Hearthstone - Roman is back!

I haven't written much about me playing Hearthstone yet. And that has it's reasons. I felt that it was pointless to play it before The Grand Tournament

Since I have little time to play it so I can't farm too many cards using The Arena. And I do not want to spend a single dollar on the game.
That leaves me little choice but to choose a cheap deck and craft it. Had I done that prior to the release of The Grand Tournament, the deck that I crafted might have become useless after the release.

Now it has been out for quite some time. And people have "decided" on which cards are good or not. And I have found a deck that I will go for. A Hunter deck. I do however need a few cards from the Solo Adventures and the different challenges like Naxxramas or whatever they are called.

I will make a post on my deck and how it has been going with it as well when it is finished. I miss 4 cards or something like that. I have started to farm some gold using it. And so far I am undefeated at least. But I do not play against high level opponents yet. Perhaps I will stream and make a VoD to post here of me using that deck. Yea I will definitely do that!

Minecraft Story Mode

Minecraft Story Mode will fool a lot of kids

Telltale Games are really popular when it comes to creating great stories. If you have read this blog recently you might know that I have played The Walking Dead Episode 1 recently.
I would say though, that playing these games where you are creating a story. You would have to be quite good at the english language to understand what choices you make and probably to understand what is happening as well.
On the version that is available on through Steam there are texted versions available for spanish, french, german, russian, chinese and portoguese.
A lot of kids will get this game as a gift or will bully their parents into buying it without knowing what it actually is.

It is not Minecraft! You don't get to run around and build stuff the sandbox style!

The trailer linked from Youtube

I would definitely be able to watch that trailer and still think it is a normal sandbox game but there is a story to it. Like you'd have to build certain things, rebuild a city that is ruined after a disaster or something.
I mean, aren't all trailers shown like this? Not actual gameplay but movie-like scenes.

I am not saying Telltale Games or Microsoft is making anything wrong here. I just say that I think there will be some people that will purchase the game without understanding what it is. Hell, I did not really know what Telltale Games were until quite recently.

Rage and strange movies

Rage and weird movies

So I played The Walking Dead the other night. Just after two hours of gaming time the game stops. And like after every movie all the name of the actors and random crew members are shown. That was rolling for a good 5 minutes.
I was shocked. That was it?!
Was that all I got?

Luckily I had a few other things stealing my attention while the names of every little part in the game were scrolling down on my screen. Otherwise I probably would have just turned the damn thing off and never started it again, thinking that was the end. Oh my god! They sell that shit for 20 euros or something?!

But then I got back to the main menu and realized I could choose other episodes. Phew! It was only the first episode that was finished. I will get to play more!

If you watched the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and The Ultimate Fighter (basically Big Brother with fighters living in the same house, fighting about who will get kicked off each week). Anyway, if you were following any of that you might know who the brittish fighter Michael Bisping is.
Quite the character, and I mean. He is british. Anyway. I was watching this really strange movie tonight. It was called The Anomaly and that name really suites the movie. In this movie anyway, there is this russian? guy called Sergio. He does not speak english, more than a few words.
I keep thinking. I remember this guy from somewhere. The character does not speak a lot in the movie. So I won't be able to catch Bisping from his language. And then I realize that it is Michael Bisping! Playing a russian gangster! Wow.
I mean. Is there anyone on this planet who speaks more british than him? So fun to see him in a role where the character does not know many words of english.

Then there was a big fighting scene and all I could think of was how fun it must have been for the actor to go up against Bisping in a scripted fight. Would not have been as much fun if there were no script saying how it should end or how damaged anyone would get.

Having a fighter in a movie is not unusual though. There are a number of famous fighters that have been starting a career in acting. What better place to find bad asses than in the actual fighting world?
Great advertisement as well. These fighers have a huge amount of fans and they will probably go see a movie where their favorite actor is playing a part. Even if he is called Sergio and tries to be gangster.

So how was the movie? The Anomaly was really strange but after a while when everything started to make sense, it was actually a good movie I'd say. Plus there are a lot of testosterone in there so I sit and watch the movie feeling the motivation to go work out just flow through my body.
I could recommend it if you like movies where the story might be hard to understand at first. And there are some nice actors and messed up shit as well.

HD Remakes

Zelda Twilight Princess HD remake are rumoured to be the next thing.

These HD remakes are not a bad thing I'd say. Okay, not all of them will be awesome but many of the titles are really popular. I would like to try the remakes of Resident Evil for one thing. The ones being against these remakes are often negative towards the old clunky controls. The completely new games do have a much better response in the controls. For example Bloodborne, you can dodge incoming attacks by evading without a problem.
In these old games the timing is tough because you don't have controls that are that perfected. It sounds like a lot of bla bla but most of you probably know of what I am rambling about.

My problem is that a lot of the old games that I try to play is simply too old. They are not compatible with new computers it seems. But buying remastered versions allow me to play them anyway, which is awesome. However, this means I pay twice for the same game. That sucks though.
Baldurs Gate 1&2 are games like this. I got like graphical glitches from installing the old game. The new version is working f-ing perfect though.

The voices from the characters in that game has effected me more than I actually realize. Just the other day I played it and heard a comment ingame and I was like. Ooooh! That is where I get that phrase from!! I have a few phrases I use that I really don't know where they come from.

Does it mean that the developers are running out of ideas? When they start to create new versions of the old games.

Is it a way to milk more money from the fans to certain big game series?
One problem is that different generations care about different things. A great example is Batman. During the 90's Batman was child friendly as fck. The generation that were kids back then are now adults and so is Batman. The kids nowadays does not care about Batman. They have new cartoon characters like an angry bird and stuff like that.

So Batman grew up, became a super graphical video game series where Joker is a psychotic mass murderer and the movies are kind of scary as well. Yes, there are some kids friendly stuff with Batman as well. But Batman has grown up along with his fans.

So before I get too old to play video games (which probably is never but the industry won't take any chances I suppose) they want to re-release the games I used to play when growing up. Like I said, I don't think it is a bad thing. I get the chance to play through some really great games again with renewed graphics and stuff.
But if you want to be negative you can just say that they don't want to take chances by creating new games. And we always want new stuff!
How long will the gaming industry be able to create new content? Will not everything been done soon?
If you look back at the 1950's or something. People said that now the tecnique has peaked. What else is there to invent. Hah! We have traveled into space, have small computers as phones and there are a few hundred Tv channels to choose from. The future is always around the corner, it would be foolish to think that the gaming industry won't keep evolving constantly.
We will have new games with new concept coming. What is mainstream will change and that will probably effect the way we look at games.

So these videos have been hilarious so far. And here is the one showing us what agility means. A really clever way of giving their fans a little something while waiting for the release. It also makes sure to remind us that the game is coming soon.

Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3

Uplay. It had to be f-ing Uplay! There are few systems surrounding the gaming industry that I hate more. And sure enough. I had to mess around for like 15 minutes before I got the game running.
I bought the game via Steam and when I had installed it and was going to start the game I was sent to the Uplay..
And I had saved my account information. The account name and password etc on a piece of paper, I mean that can't go wrong, right?
Hah! Instead of signing in with my account name though, they were asking me to insert the emailaddress. That information however, was not on the piece of paper!

So eventually I figured out which email I used and reset the password etc. And I could start the game! Though I had to restart both Steam and Uplay. It just kept telling me to go to Steam, go to Uplay, go to Steam etc.

At first I had to agree with some comment I read about the game. Like Skyrim, but with guns. However after a few minutes. Especially after I saw the map I was certain. This is exactly like Assassins Creed! A lot of stuff inside the game as well. Like the radio towers. They are the exact same thing as the vintage points in Assassins Creed. You even have to exit them in the same fashion. Instead of jumping down into a pile of hay, you use a zipline though.

Honestly, this fact might make me a bit more prone to get bored by this game faster. Since I have played all the Assassins Creeds quite recently so the entire thing feels a bit old to me.

But there is a reason why I played through all the Assassins Creeds. I enjoyed them. So I am enjoying this game as well!

The story is okay I suppose. Don't really need a reason to run around in this beautiful enviroment. So the story will come in second hand. Really scary dude that is the enemy though. They have made that well, I bet some are really freaked out by him.

It is a really nice game to stream. Got some nice conversations going the first time I streamed it on Twitch. And that is a big plus for me. I love the social aspect of the gaming/streaming. Plus I can get help from people if I get stuck on some things.

I will definitely play this game for many hours in the days to come!

"Stealth game sale" on Steam!

Stealth games for sale!

What is a stealth game?
Assassins Creed and Splinter Cell of course. But a whole lot of other games as well. Apparently Far Cry, which gave me the chance to purchase Far Cry 3 for the price of 4.99 €. Awesome!

Was thinking about it for the longest of time though. Was a bit skeptical regarding the fact that they are promising so much. Open world. Use animals?! to kill enemies. I am supposed to send a f-ing tiger on people?
Driving cars. Using a sniper rifle from a hill or sneak through the bushes taking the enemies out in silently.
Can a game really have all this and still be good at it all? I mean. That is a looot of features. But I bought it and I will be back with some thoughts about it.

PlayStation Now

PlayStation Now Launched

Sony has launched a new service that allows you to stream games via the PlayStation Network to your console. There are over 100 PS3 titles in the service. Even old PlayStation2 titles are available like Shadow of the Colossus.
The service is compatible with PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.

You can have a one week trial period for free. But unless you actively quit you will automatically sign up for the service. So don't forget to tell them that you don't want to continue.

So this service will stream the games. That means that you will need a fast and stable connection. The service will be testing your connection when you log on to make sure you will be able to use it.
Another thing though, if you are idle for too long (how long?) you will get disconnected to make room for other players.
They need their bandwidth it seems.

If you don't want access to all of the games for the price of 12.99 (pounds I think it is) you can rent one game instead for 2.99 (pounds?). If you are a person that don't feel like games has any value once you have beaten them. This might be something for you.
Personally I would not prefer to play my games this way. I prefer to be able to go back to playing the game every now and then. And I am a sucker for physical copies.

But like I said. It could be a great thing for many gamers out there! If you play through a few games a month this could be a profitable way to get hold of the games. I am not sure about how many new titles there will be here though. It sounds like there are just PS3 titles so far? As well as the ones from PS2 as well. But there are most definitely some good old titles that you have missed over the years.

I think the service is only available in the UK. So no wonder I took a guess that it was pounds? It can have changed however, don't know when the news I read were from. This sounds like something they would definitely try in other parts of the world, not just in the UK.

I remember that Nintendo pulled something like it a few years back with Nintendo Wii. You could buy the old NES games and play them on your Wii.

My source was the Gamereactor app. Hopefully we can hear about Sony releasing it in more regions soon.

Bosch! Favorite detective now on TV!

My favorite detective when reading books is apparently on TV! How could I have missed that. There was a movie a few years back where Michael Connelly had another one of his characters made into a character on TV.
Back then it was Clint Eastwood who played Terry McCaleb in Blood Work 2002.

So obviously I haven't seen the TV series yet. But believe me I will. There is something funny about him even though it is probably not meant to be that way.
Veteran from the war. Living alone. Like a lot of cops on TV he likes alcohol.

It is these really crazy cases, hey it is Hollywood! And in some way Michael Connelly makes my mind spin and try to solve the puzzle as I read about Bosch. That is an amazing thing.

I saw a trailer I believe it was of the TV series. I am not so sure what I saw. If that was supposed to be Bosch? I had imagined something else. But is that not how it always is? If you read a book and then watch a movie or a series based on the book you will get disappointed.

No matter what I was expecting. I will definitely watch the series and see what it is like. Hopefully they have made a few episodes from the books. That would be awesome, since the cases from the books are entertaining.

League of Legends Worlds

So Worlds huh? Awesome!

This is the thing everyone have been waiting for. The best of the best.
Which metas will be strongest?
Which team can be able to adapt their style of play to outplay their opponents?
Which region is the best?

Upsets has happened so far in the Worlds. Will we see more of them? I haven't seen all of the matches yet because I slowly watch the replays one by one. I would not want to miss any of the action.

Is it just me or have you also started to play more League of Legends right now? The motivation from watching these guys play is amazing.
For me personally, I started to play Fiora. Watched Dyrus video on how to play her as well. Great stuff.

But lets go back to Worlds. Which teams have been dominating so far? Any players that have excelled?

KOO has been insane in some games. At their matches against CLG and PNG I believed them to be unstoppable. That was however not true it turns out. FW won against them and that was an impressive display.
Back to KOO. Kench impressed on me during the game against CLG. He swallowed his own ADC meaning that the opponents burned their ultimates on him (the support) and then the ADC could finish up the fight.
KOO also showed me the power of Mordekaiser and Darius in their win against PNG.

FW did start out with some weird decisions during their battle against CLG. But they managed to turn that one around. And like I said, they managed to get an impressive victory against KOO later on.

Nice to see Malphite against a team with a lot of AD. Strange thing that they did not ban away the Malph before choosing a team that lacks AP.

Been playing some Batman lately and it felt like the Joker were playing when BKT - SKT. The new rules are, there are no rules! Olaf mid!
The players on this level are so capable of change and can figure out exactly what to pick against what in matter of seconds. I am impressed!

It was in the match against BKT and H2K that Mordekaiser was picked for the first time. Crowd went crazy, cheering for the Kaiser!
Unfortunately they did not get a lot out of the Morekaiser early, they did not push towers a lot using dragon etc. Lacked ranged dps since Morde was playing botlane with a support.
They won however, crazy strong team.

xPeke chose Anivia against Mr. Anivia?! He showed some balls right there. It worked out well in the end as well.

AHQ vs. Fnatic were some crazy shit if I remember correctly. Mobile teams with teleports and shit. Like in Matrix, there is no spoon. There is no laning! Teamfiiiights!

Can't wait for the rest of Worlds! Lets get ready to Rumble!

Early Access - Good concept?

Early Access - Is it a good concept or not?

So this is reaaaally common these days. Games are released as Early Access for people to buy. Before I go into it more I will just give the background of the development that I will commentate in this post.

Background

At first video games were not connected to the Internet what so ever. That meant that the developers had no chance of releasing a patch to fix bugs and mistakes that were in the game after it is released.
So when the game is released it is complete! End of story! If the companies failed to release the games without bugs they would get a bad reputation. I suppose that delays were more common back in these days since the companies really could not afford to release anything before it was complete.

Then the Internet came and the companies were able to patch the games after release to fix certain issues that the games had. I suppose this was good, because after all, not all bugs were found in the earlier era.

There would always be glitches that players found. Now the companies could release a patch to fix things like that.

With the Internet coming and more and more games become online games the world of gaming grew. Now companies could put up servers with the alpha and beta versions of the games to allow a certain amount of players to try it and give the development team some feedback.

You could sign up for a chance to test the game in the development stage. This was actually really fun the times where I actually got to test some games myself.
Because in many ways you got to be special and try the games before all your mates that all wanted to play the same game. But they would have to wait for the release. Haha!

But these were all closed betas. With time, more and more open betas came. And I would say that the early access games that we see today is just simply open betas that people pay to play.

So these new early access games. Is the concept good?

Pros
- All players that wants to test it during development stages get the chance to do so.
- The development team gets a lot of feedback from players
- The developers get a lot of funds to be able to continue the development of the game
- Streamers might play the game and make it popular like with DayZ where the developers haven't spent a penny on commercial. Twitch & Youtube have done that for them.

Cons
- The developers get a lot of the revenues from the game even before they have even finished it. Will they bother to finish it? When purchasing a early access game there is a disclaimer saying that the game might end up in a way that you did not expect. There are sooo many games now that is released on early access and my guess is that many of them will stay that way.

I can't seem to come up with many cons although it is a fairly big one. Hopefully players will be able to foresee which games will go through with the development and which ones won't.

Examples of Early Access Games

I mentionded DayZ as one of the games that have been riding on the wave of success that Twitch and Youtube have had with the streaming community. But DayZ have been in early access for a long time and won't get finished in the near future either if I remember it correctly.
This game started out as a mod for Arma2 and I am not so sure that they have changed soooo much since then. I might be wrong and then I apologize. But  when I tried it a few weeks back it felt a lot like the Arma2 mod. Since I liked the mod I was not all disappointed but I hope that they make a lot of progress in the development of that game. Now when they are competing against H1Z1 that is cheaper, and will be free-to-play and I'd say ahead in the development process. In the favor of DayZ is the fact that H1Z1 might be spending a lot of resources on the Battle Royale and not so much on the normal servers.

H1Z1 is another tricky one. Their mode Battle Royale has had great success due to the streamers. But they said that when the game is going to be released it will be free-to-play! At the moment though they are selling a looot of copies and I believe it is around 20 euros a piece.
Why would they want to announce the game as finished and then begin to release it for free? The skeptical person in me says that will not happen for a loooong time.

The Forest is another survival horror game that is early access. When I got that game their Steam page stated that this was really early access alpha and it would take some time with a lot of problems during the development period.
Oddly enough I haven't noticed any problems. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I (the player) do not play on servers that they are maintaining. When I play I create my own game and for multiplayer I have to host the game myself.
There are constantly new patches with new content and old bugs getting fixed. So on the subject, this is a positive example so far.

I love the concept! But I don't like getting screwed. So I guess I am bound to be disappointed at times. I mean. Yea, it is cool to be able to try games out during the development process. If there is one! If the game is not having any progress then it is not early access. Then it is just a non-finished game that the developers are getting money for anyway.
I will try DayZ again someday soon to see what progress they have been making. Lets hope I am pleasently surprised. The Forest though is a great buy I'd say. There are gameplay videos on this blog under the "gaming" label.
