Gaming is educational

Kids learn a lot from games

People who are against video games and states that it is bad for our kids are most likely people who themselves never have spent a lot of time with it.

Sure, nowadays there are a lot of stuff surrounding all the smart phones. When I was young there were no smart phones. It was the video games that was around and the Internet. That was the best education you could ever get in the english language.

Today most games are played online and to be able to communicate with teammates the kids are using programs like Skype to speak to each other. That is great training. Because it is not like reading from a textbook. The kids are trying to express certain things to their teammates so that they can understand. The situations that come up is not scripted, the kids have to improvise using english.

The text and audio in the games are not very often translated into other languages either which gives the kids a lesson in spelling and pronounciation as well.

I can understand the people talking bad about video games if the kids are not doing anything else than just sitting in front of the TV or computer. That might be negative in some way. But to be able to sit and concentrate on something that they find important for an hour or so is good.
To be able to sit down and focus for a long time it is important with other activities like sports. It is the same with school. Kids can't be forced to sit down for such a long time every day. We need more physical education in schools!
Another thing they learn is to interract with people they do not know. They can even learn things about leadership. Since all these games have a lot of players, the players often form guilds or teams. Those needs leaders, and by leading they are learning leadership.

So please don't say that video games is all bad for the kids!
